The Australia day weekend Celebrations is an activity developed by the men’s shed to promote community involvement by providing entertainment, food etc. for the day.
The day commences from 9.30 with the official opening at 10.00am with nonstop events over the next five hours.
Events include:
Kids races – Tug-o-war – Henley on Thomson fun Boat Races – Egg and spoon, throw the mop and thong competitions.
A big range of food will be on sale cooked by the men with some stalls coming from outside for those extra goodies.
We try to have wine tasting if able to get a wine producer to attend.
We have a car display with last year’s event attracting over 100 cars. Trophy for best car in show.
Music is a priority with guest artists and groups participating with Line dancers and belly dancers.
Buskers have also been approached to attend.
Stalls with goods for sale are included and community groups are encouraged to participate raising much needed funds for their work.
Kate again sells her jams and pickles for our outreach work and Inasmuch Ainslie House.
Our nursery also will be open with a wide range of plants for sale.
Traction Engine Rides will excite the Kids along with carnival rides.
A pet show organised by our local vet is a popular event for young and old with a variety of family pets on show. Trophies are awarded to the winners.
