The men’s shed outreach programs involving getting men to the shed (i.e. The bus) or taking the shed to the men. In previous years we have been involved with Sussex Inlet Public School where we had a three week program teaching the students some woodworking skills while making a small toy to take home.
Twice a month the men from inasmuch come to the shed or we go to the nursing home complex and undertake projects for 2-3 hours each time. Our major projects over the past 18 months has been 3 mosaics. The mosaics are on display for both residents and community people to view.
Other projects have included, making toys for the Shoe Box Charity. The men constructed approx. 250 of the toys to be distributed to needy children here at home or overseas.
Another activity was to involve the men from the nursing home in making Christmas trees out of recyclable materials then display them in the main street and allow the community to vote for the best tree after which they were auctioned. Prizes were awarded.
